Textile Architecture: Major Assets
The textile structures are made of a metal skeleton,
covered with canvasses laid or stretched with arches
or masts. The technical specific features and the supple
manufacture allow the reproduction of peculiarly complex
surfaces.
The laid or stretched structures, the double inverse
curve, characteristic for the textile architecture,
the “hyper parabolic”
forms or the so-called “roofing
and valley”, “Chinese
hat” or “horse
saddle” offer the canvas an unlimited
and particularly complex richness to satisfy everybody’s
imagination. It is a manner to imprint a distinctive
mark on the architectural project, to imprint it an
artistic and sometimes play personality.
The aesthetic advantages, its strength, add up to
the intrinsic qualities of canvas:
|
High-quality standards maintained
in time
Exposed to the sun and bad weather conditions, the
Precontraint® textiles, prepared by ACS, conserve
their excellent standards in time. The canvas keeps
80% of its original brightness after 10 years. The
colours are also conserved. |
|
 |
|
Durability
The canvas is exceptionally resistant against stretching,
due to a very weak shrinkage. |
|
 |
 |
Dimensional stability
The Precontraint® membranes offer elongation
characteristics at load very similar in chain and
in weft, as well as a minimum creep in time. The
dimensional stability of the Precontraint® membranes
facilitate the final assembly of the buildings (it
is not necessary to stretch the canvas again) and
the creation of perfect surfaces and shapes, scarcely
subjected to distortions and wind blowing. |
|
 |
 |
Perfect luminosity
Due to the choice of translucent canvas, the interior
is lit in a more natural colour. On the other side,
the Precontraint® textiles offer an excellent
resistance against ultraviolet radiations and against
air polluters, sometimes even better than the classical
covers. |
